How Paint Saved My Life, Bird by Bird:
(full story below)

Paint Saved My Life

I started painting because there was nothing left to do.

I left my home, I lost my things, and I gave up what I wanted to do with my life.  All that I had left was a suitcase and a paint set.

So I rented a painting studio on faith, and I just started painting.

Bird by Bird

At first, everything was a failure.

But I kept going. I started using Indigo, because it's a universal and ancient color.  I started painting birds because they are a symbol of hope.

Progress

Slowly, things got better.

I started letting the paint tell me what to do.  I stopped struggling so much. I kept painting, bird by bird.  When I was confused, my birds were confused.  When I was happy, my birds were happy.

Bird by Bird

The very last bird, the 100th bird, flew out of my brush. Once he was painted, I knew he was the last in the series.  I am thankful for all the things these paintings have taught me, bird by bird.

A new day, a new bird.

A new day, a new bird.

This is my 100th bird.

This is my 100th bird.

If you would like to know more about each bird, you can download a free Catalogue of Birds in the Studio Shop.  Thanks!
